Madison Heights is part of one of the fastest growing denominations in the country and can be described as having a high view of Scripture, as stated previously, and a strong commitment to the message of Jesus Christ. There are sixteen PCA churches in the Jackson metropolitan area and well over a thousand in the U.S.
Another question often asked concerns the meaning of Presbyterian. Simply put, it describes a church that is ruled by elders (the Greek word presbuteros means elder) who are elected by the congregation. This concept is found in 1 Timothy 3:1-13; 5:17-20, and Numbers 11. There are two kinds of elders: (a.) teaching elders who are pastors, and (b.) ruling elders who are ordained laymen. This is the type of government we believe is best demonstrated in the New Testament Church (Acts 20:17; Titus 1:5-7). We also have deacons who serve the church (see 1 Timothy 3). As you can see, Presbyterianism (sounds a whole lot better than elderianism doesn't it) is simply a desire to ensure that the church is organized and governed as Scripture suggests.
